First Day at Technip

Salam...

First day at work (or LI). It was an interesting day. I arrived at Wisma Technip at 7.53 am and the first person i saw was Naiim. He was walking towards the entrance. After having a short chat, we head to the entrance together. We met the security guards and tell about the purpose of our coming today, and then they took us to a mini clinic to take our body temperature. Its H1N1 procedure...whatever...

After waiting at the lobby for about 30 minutes, the person in charge for Industrial Training at Technip, Mr Hafiz came and took us to the HR Department. There, we are given some handouts and forms to fill in. After about 20 minutes, Mr Hafiz took us the our department, the largest department in Technip, the Piping Department.

The first thing i realize is every eyes in the department are watching us....

to be continued...

JFE, Technip or Sapphire Base

Salam,

Its been a while since my last posting. As the title of this entry suggest, I am in dilemma right now. I got three offers for my Industrial Training. All three have their own advantages. As for this moment, I still haven't decide yet, which one to take.

This morning, I went to JFE Engineering Sdn Bhd at Jalan Yap Kwan Seng to meet their Director of Energy Division Mr Hirofumi Abe. We met about half an hour, talking about projects that JFE is doing now in Malaysia. It appears that, they are working on two big projects. One is constructing a Chemical Plant and the other one is building a production factory.

Mr Abe or Abe-San, is a very polite person. Although he is the director of the company, he treat me like I am the boss. I think that is how Japanese treat their visitors. Another person in that meeting is Mr Ganesh, the company's HR and Admin Manager. He is a soft spoken person. Like Abe-San he is also very polite.

One big disadvantage of JFE is that they offer me unrelevant task. They want me to do piping/plant drafting using Auto CAD whereas that task is very unchallenging as I have already done that (using Autocad) a zillion times in my life. What I want is something new, something like PDMS or PDS. I've been longing for those software....

Technip provide PDS, thats for sure. At least that whats my brother told me. He is a Piping Designer at Technip. One disadvantage of doing industrial training at Technip is my brother. It is not really a problem but I feel a little bit cocky working in a department alongside by brother. It would be a strange experience not only for me but also to my brother.

The other choice is Sapphire Base. It is a Bumiputra Company working mainly on designing and analyzing pressure vessel and piping. One disadvantage of this company is, according to Ab, it lacks signboard. Even at the entrance of the office, they didnt put any signboard showing that they exists at the premise. That irk me a lot because it shows lack of professionalisme.

Hari Raya is coming. Three more days from today, and I need to make up my mind which company to be chosen as the company that i will spend three months there. For me its not only three months, it actually can determine my future. The decision now, will effect my carrier for the next 10 years or more. So, which path shall I walk? JFE, Technip or Sapphire Base?

1Malaysia Poster

This is my poster on 1Malaysia concept that has been brought by our prime minister, Dato' Seri Mohd Najib Tun Abdul Razak. It may look simple but that is actually my view on the concept. It is a simple yet powerful concept that we all as Malaysian should take it as our guidance to live harmony in our beloved country, Malaysia.

This concept is not new actually. All our former Prime Ministers are also promoted this concept but in different names. To build a great and harmony Malaysia, all of us should strive to do the best for our country, and in the same time we should not have bad thoughts of other races and religions to preserve the harmony that we are enjoying today.

Although Malaysia is a multi racial country, we have managed to live together in harmony for the last 52 years, and i can see no reason that we cannot preserve this harmony in the future!

Zapin

Zapin is a dance form that is popular in Indonesia (Jambi province) and in Malaysia (especially in the state of Johor). It is believed to have been introduced by Arab, Muslim missionaries from the Middle East in the fourteenth century.

Zapin Dancer

In the old days, only males were allowed to perform but nowadays, female dancers are included. It used to be performed exclusively for religious ceremonies but through the years it has become a form of traditional entertainment, hence the participation of female dancers are allowed.
Marwas

The dancers usually perform in pairs and are accompanied by a traditional music ensemble normally consists of the gambus, accordion, violin, marwas (bongos), rebana (drum) and dok.

Lucid Dreamer

A lucid dream is a dream in which the sleeper is aware that he/she is dreaming. When the dreamer is lucid, they can actively participate in and often manipulate the imaginary experiences in the dream environment. Lucid dreams can be extremely real and vivid depending on a person's level of self-awareness during the lucid dream.

A Lucid Dreamer is someone who can be a in a state of awake while he/she is actually is in a dream. now, i want to ask, after you wake up from your sleep and you recall that you have experience a dream from the sleep, can you detail out the dream? if you at least 60-70% can detail out your dream than you have high potential to be a Lucid Dreamer.

What advantages of being a lucid dreamer? No advantages other than you can:

1) Experience your dream in a more reality manners
2) Sometimes you can learn something new just by dreaming
3) Explore your dream life
4) To achieve the latter stage of Dream Skill (The 3rd Stage)
5) Just being unique from other people (the simplest answer)

Well, not everyone have this ability. This is a very RARE phenomenon. The one who have this ability is a very special person. You think you are one of the RARE Lucid Dreamers? Well, you should google about it to find it out more.
